Meet Emily

Education Partnerships Manager, MIND Research Institute

After growing an interactive Economic Classroom platform spun out of Caltech’s Behavioral Economics Lab, Emily Young joined the Partnerships team at MIND Research Institute to further STEM career access and education. As a mission-driven nonprofit, MIND Research Institute positions all students to deeply understand and truly love math. What’s unique about Emily’s role is the opportunity to work with school districts, donors, and the county office to create lasting community partnerships, including Family Math Week, to address negative math stigmas. Emily is a proud USC Trojan, with USC undergrad and graduate degrees, and was a member of the USC Beach Volleyball team winning National Championships in the Spring of 2015 and 2016. Fight On!

Aims & Objectives for Emily's Workshop:

“Why can’t we just teach math the way I learned it?” Join Emily Young of MIND Research Institute as we dive into asset-based approaches and home resources for teaching mathematics. Together we’ll explore a ‘new way of learning math’ and its importance for the next generation of STEM learners.
